HCCC deadline nearing

The deadline for registration for the 2018 – 2019 season of the Hocking County Children’s Chorus is Aug. 24.

The HCCC is open to all children in Hocking County in grades two through 12. This includes children in public schools, private schools, digital academy, and those who are home-schooled. The chorus is open to children of all abilities.

The children in the chorus have a lot of fun together while they develop their talents in music, performance, and theater. A United Way Agency, the HCCC performs at various community events throughout the year, and holds an annual Christmas concert. Each spring, the HCCC presents a musical. This past year, they presented “The Sound of Music” to a crowd of almost 1,000 people! Their 2019 play will be “Annie”, presented on April 13, 14 at the Logan High School Theatre.

Rehearsals are held on Monday and Thursday evenings at the HCCC music room in downtown Logan. On Mondays, the Cherub Choir (grades 2-3) practices from 5:15 – 6 p.m., and the Junior Choir (grades 4-5) rehearses from 6:15 – 7. The Senior Choristers (grades 6 and up) rehearse on Thursdays from 5:15 – 6.

Anyone who wishes to play Handchimes will rehearse in one of the four Handchime Choirs once a month on Thursday 6:15 – 7 p.m. Rehearsals begin Thursday, Sept. 6 for the Seniors, and Monday, September 10 for the Cherub and Junior Choirs.

Tuition for the year is $85 for the first child, $75 for the second child of the same family, and $65 each for additional siblings. This one-time fee includes all uniforms, t-shirts, music, costumes and supplies for the year. Note tuition is due at the time of registration.

Registration forms are available at various locations around town (The Bowen House, FroYo, Library, Pizza Crossing, O’Willerkers, etc.) A representative from the HCCC will be at all school open houses as well, with registration brochures available then.
